This post contains instructions for how to work with personal access tokens on GitHub.

• Go to https://github.com/ and click on your picture icon to open the settings menu

• Scroll down on the page until you see “Developer settings”

• There you’ll see “Personal access tokens”

• Click on “Personal access tokens”

• Click on “Generate new token”

• At the bottom, click on “Generate token”

• Your token will be a string of numbers and letters that looks like this (this isn’t really mine):

ghp_dZVDQtfymPz6EsDgnrCSkW5t4BM2eJ0LEjRK

• Paste it in as your username, then for the password, simply hit return/enter again without entering anything
